Skåne Thor’s Hammer Necklace Sterling Silver & Fine Silver 999 In Norse mythology, Mjölnir is the hammer of Thor, a major Norse god associated with thunder. Mjölnir is depicted in Norse mythology as one of the most fearsome and powerful weapons capable of levelling mountains. The hammer was made by the dwarven brothers Eitri and Brokkr. Thor’s hammer, or Mjolnir, is a powerful Nordic protective amulet, symbolising man’s creative powers. It is mighty protection from any negative energy. Protects from curses by neutralising them. Thor’s hammer gives confidence in your abilities. The Thor’s Hammer is a replica based on the find from Kabbarp near Staffanstorp in Skåne, Sweden. Kabbarp or Skåne Thor’s Hammer from Southern Sweden is probably the most famous and incredibly ornamented Thor’s Hammer from the Viking Age. Everyone knows the front of this Hammer, it is a fantastic work of jewellery art. The back of this amulet is less known and devoid of ornaments. It is a thin plate covering the hollowed body of the hammer. The plate covering the back of the amulet is strangely deformed. This deformation is not accidental. For a long time, it was a mystery to me. The puzzle was solved after a conversation with Johan Carlsson, a Viking re-enactor from Sweden who has extensive knowledge about this amulet and also other jewellery from the Viking Age. Look at the photos below, and everything will be clear. The artist who created this beautiful amulet, wanting to protect the back made of a thin plate, placed a kind of ribbing supporting the back plate inside the hammer. The back plate was so thin and soft that it was subjected to minor damage impacts during use, resulting in concavities, creating mysterious wave patterns photo of the original find: Historiska Museet An ancient technique made the chain is hand-made using Pure Silver 999 wire diameter of 1mm. It was a very popular design in the Viking Age. The Chain ends are made of Sterling Silver. The total length of the necklace is 63cm weight: 100g size of Thor’s Hammer: 42x48mm size of the ends: length: 36mm width: 10mm height: 7mm ‘D’ shape hole for the chain 7×5 The chain is a replica of the part of the historical find from Smedegård, Østermarie in Bornholm. The hoard was found in 2012 on the field in Østermarie on the Danish island of Bornholm. The chain with those beautiful ends was a part of the hoard, one of the youngest treasures of the Viking Age. Due to the handmade nature of the product, the actual piece may be slightly different from the item in the picture. Each piece of jewellery from the Nord Emporium workshop is handmade by me.
