Gørding Serpent Necklace Bronze 24k Gold Plated On February 10, 2019, near Gørding, Denmark, Jean Stockholm and Doris Birch Mathiesen found a beautiful gold pendant with a coiled snake Foto: Jean Stokholm https://sydvestjyskemuseer.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/page/2/ Foto: Sydvestjyske Museer This beautiful serpent pendant is small, only 25mm long, is incredibly decorated with a very small filigree My replica is almost a 1:1 (27mm) The pendant was hung on a wire which was fastened with a thong or string. The pendant contains two green glass beads. Coiled snake pendants are known from the Late Germanic Iron Age and the Viking Age. Perhaps the pendant depicts a mythical serpent Jörmungandr also known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent. Jörmungandr is a sea serpent, the middle child of Loki and the giantess Angrboða. In Norse mythology, serpents and dragons embody the destructive phase of the creation-destruction cycle. This means that they represent chaos and cataclysm, but also change and renewal. The original pendant located at Sydvestjyske Museer Weight of pendant: 8g Size: 18mm x 27mm Length of the strap adjustable: max 65cm (25.5”) Material: Bronze 24k Gold-plated If you need any customization, please contact: [email protected] Each other necklace from my Nord Emporium workshop is handmade by myself.
