“Hello Takoma Park” is based on my original 2016 acrylic and ballpoint pen street-scene painting inspired by downtown Takoma Park, Maryland. The artwork was created during my participation in the Virtual Paintout project, which encouraged artists around the world to paint locations discovered through Google Street View. At the time, I was recovering from a serious injury and largely housebound, and the project became a creative way to keep exploring and painting. This design captures a moment in Takoma Park history — including local storefronts and gathering places that have since changed or disappeared — making the artwork both a colorful city portrait and a small visual time capsule of the neighborhood. Printed on a soft Bella Canvas unisex tee with a lightweight vintage feel.
